We like to serenade you, and our jazz performers do just that. Throughout the week, this trio makes our guests get up and dance. Enjoy high tea or our specialty cocktails, while enjoying the sweet sounds of Katherine Ella Wood, Alex Haley, and Leon Boykins.

Katherine Ella Wood:
Katherine Ella Wood is a Miami born actress, vocalist, environmental advocate, and dancer. Graduate of The Juilliard School and NYU – Tisch & CAS, she developed a love for storytelling and the art of music. She has performed at The Public Theatre, Crossroads Theatre Company, and The Yard Playhouse, as well as in numerous short film and pilot productions.
While at Juilliard, she was awarded several scholarships and fellowships, and snuck over to the jazz studios during rehearsal breaks as often as possible. Her excitement for jazz came at an early age, riding through Jamaica’s hills with her father blasting
Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Blossom Dearie, Buena Vista Social Club, and many
These and many of her contemporaries continue to inspire her. In her time in NY, she has had the fortune of playing with many of the next generation of musical leaders in jazz, and hopes only to hold a candle among the many torchbearers of its legacy.
Alex Haley’s passion for music and imaginative spirit are evident in his musicality, tonal sensitivity, and rhythmic acuity. Alex has a B.M. in Music Production and Recording Technologies with a Jazz Guitar emphasis from Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia.
During his senior year, Alex received The Outstanding Jazz Performance with Lasting Contribution Award, among others during his time at the conservatory.
In addition to being a guitarist Alex is an audio engineer at Big Orange Sheep, recording artists such as Gilad Hekselman, Claudia Acuna, and Esperanza Spalding. Coming straight to NYC from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in VA, he’s spent his first year in the city engaging with musicians, and immersing himself in the music world.
Leon Boykins has developed a reputation for tastefully blending musical tradition with innovation. With several studio projects as a sideman, and countless worldwide performances under his belt, bassist/composer/educator Leon Boykins is an established figure in the next generation of creative musicians. During his time in New York City he has shared the stage with many musical greats including Terell Stafford, Orrin Evans, Donny McCaslin, Gilad Heckselman, Pascal Le Boeuf, Allan Harris, Shai Maestro, Ben Schachter, Dick Oatts, and John Swana. As an in demand sideman Leon prides himself in interpreting the artistic vision of each artist that he makes music with.
Placing a large emphasis on education Leon holds a B.M (07) from Temple University, a
M.M (11) from the Manhattan School of Music and Masters of Education from Hunter College. His list of awards include various scholarships from the Manhattan School of Music, Temple University, West Virginia University and the Pittsburgh Jazz Society, as
well as an outstanding soloist award from Down Beat Magazine.
Currently Leon is residing in Brooklyn NY where he is preparing a music education curriculum for high school aged students. He is also maintaining a busy performance schedule and continuing to pursue a devoted interest in songwriting and music production.
